Students Connecting Remotely In the Interest of Better Expression
A Teen Writers' Forum
SCRIIBE is a program for high school students interested in making time to pursue poetry or fiction writing during the academic year. Through SCRIIBE, students will have the opportunity to receive intensive feedback from a peer in a virtual workshop setting. Participants will leave the program having written and polished a work to add to their portfolio and with lasting connections to other teen authors.
Special thanks to Jane Gilmartin, author of thriller novel The Mirror Man for providing incredible support, advice, and feedback to our 2024 participants!
In 2024, the workshop consisted of three sessions held via Zoom, as well as a final virtual event featuring a visit from Jane Gilmartin, author of The Mirror Man.Â
Dates for spring 2025:
Sunday, March 23, 8-10 pm ET
Sunday, March 30, 8-10 pm ET
Sunday, April 6, 8-10 pm ET
Additional weekly meetings continuing on Sundays from 7-9!
Details for final author event coming soon!
Participants are required to attend all meetings.
Based on his/her/their application submission, each teen author will be paired with another participant pursuing the same genre. Participants will have the opportunity to meet with their partner during the first workshop meeting; before the second and third sessions, writers will share a piece of writing with their partner, who will prepare comments to share with one another.
The goal is for each writer to improve in both his/her/their craft and in constructive dialogue. Therefore, guidelines for workshopping will be created as a group during the first session. A code of conduct for all participants also can be found here.
